What do you plan to do this Fall? Perhaps you plan to get some reading done, but don't know what to read. It can be hard to find good books as a Christian girl, but maybe this post will help you!
Before I begin, I want to say a few things.
1. I don't claim to agree with everything that is mentioned, said, or done in the books listed.
2. I personally haven't read/finished every book listed, but between my sister and me I think we have.
3. There are affiliate links in this post.
4. The links included may not bring you to the exact version pictured.
One last thing: age range. Some of the books are more for younger children, but I included them because I really liked them. You may find something from this post you would like to read to a younger sibling. On the other hand, I would recommend some of the books for an older audience, like 14+ or so. If you are younger, you may want to ask a parent first. Some books are great for any age!
Okay, so let's begin!
The Cat of Bubastes
G. A. Henty
I haven't quite finished this, but my sister has read it twice. It's a fictional story about Amuba, son of a Rebu king, who gets taken as a slave to Egypt. There he is befriended by Chebron. Later on Chebron accidentally kills a cat, which the people thought was sacred. They are hiding for their lives, and trying to find Mysa, Chebron's sister. It's full of history, adventure, and mystery!

Pilgrim's Progress
John Bunyan
Pilgrim's Progress has had more copies sell than any other book except the Bible. It's an allegory following the life of Christian, a man with a terrible burden upon his back, which he wants to be rid of. Follow Christian through the Slough of Despondence, the Interpreter's house, and to the cross, where his burden falls. Meet Wordly Wise Man, Evangelist, Patience and Prudence, and many more people as you journey through, finally arriving at the Celestial City.
Mimosa
Amy Carmichael
As a girl, Mimosa heard about God one day. She didn't hear much; she didn't even remember His name. But she trusted in Him through the years, and eventually was able to learn more and meet other Christians. You'll be amazed as you read the true story, and see God working miracles in Mimosa's life!
Last year, I wrote about this book in THIS post.

My sister has read these three books form the Chosen Daughter Series, and enjoyed them all. Copying from P&R Publishing's site, this series "highlights the lives of ordinary women who by God’s grace accomplish extraordinary things." Follow along in these true stories showing people who really "dared to risk it all."
American Challenge
American Struggle
Enjoy learning about fictional girls during real events such as the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Each of these thick books contain four separate stories, by various authors. Enjoy following these girls through adventures, while learning at the same time. See the struggles they endured, and feel the joy when they succeed. If you like history and adventure, you're sure to enjoy reading these two books!
These books are from the Sisters in Time Series.
Little Women
Louisa May Alcott
Meet Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy, four sisters growing up during the Civil War. With lovely poems, references throughout of different places in Pilgrim's Progress as the girls journey through them, and funny stories too, this book is definitely a classic! See Jo, the main character, change from a rough, boyish girl with no manners, to the kind and caring lady she becomes. Inspired by Louisa's own life and sisters.
Stepping Heavenward
Elizabeth Prentiss
Stepping Heavenward is written as the fictional diary of a girl named Katy. It's like a devotional and a story in one. See Katy transform as she learns to know God, and follow Him. She goes from the complaining, impatient girl, to the loving wife and mom at the end, who is able to give advice to others.

Kisses from Katie
Katie Davis
Kisses from Katie is the true story of an eighteen year old girl who moves to Uganda; by the time she was 23, she had become the mother of 13 girls! You may think Katie's life is hard, and it is! Being the mom of so many girls, having a ministry with hundreds of other children, constantly having others who are sick or homeless stay for meals or nights — that is hard. So why does she do it? Because she knows that's where God wants her to be. And she's so happy! Living for God by serving others gives you a joy and fulfillment you can't find by living for yourself. See God work miracles all throughout this book, and watch as Katie grows closer to Him.

Making Brothers and Sister Best Friends
Sarah, Stephen, and Grace Mally
Written by three siblings, this book shows you how to become best friends with your sisters and brothers. It doesn't mean you can't have other friends, but being friends with your siblings is something important that many people don't do. Sadly, lots of people view their siblings as competitors, or just ignore them overall. This can be read alone, or with your family. They also sell a coloring book you can do as you read.
Charlotte's Web
E.B. White
For many years, this was my favorite book! It's the simple story of a girl named Fern, and a pig, Wilbur, who doesn't want to be eaten. Creative Charlotte the spider saves him by writing complements about him in her web, such as "Some Pig." This results in Wilbur becoming famous.

Rachel Yoder Always Trouble Somewhere Series
Wanda E. Brunstetter
This series actually has eight books in all, though only four are pictured. It's a fictional story about a ten year old Amish girl in Lancaster, PA. This series is fun, interesting, and sure to keep you laughing!

Little House Series
Laura Ingalls Wilder
While this is technically fiction, much of it is from Laura's own life. It starts by showing when Laura is a little girl in the Big Woods, pauses to learn of Almanzo's childhood, and then continues the story of the Ingalls as they travel many miles in their covered wagon. Read about their dugout at Plum Creek, their shanty by Silver Lake, and their house in town. See as Laura grows up, gets married, and has a baby of her own. Not only will you enjoy reading this series, but you'll learn so much about what it was like to grow up in the late 1800's.
So, have you read any of the books I mentioned? What books do you recommend?
