Yum! Chocolate Cake Recipe

This chocolate cake tasted so good! We based ours of a recipe from an American Girl magazine. Ours measurements were not exact, one thing in particular is we added more chocolate chips than the recipe called for. The result, a soft, chocolatey, and delicious cake!.

We didn't use frosting, we used confectioners sugar. That idea was also from the American Girl magazine. Click HERE for a post on how our cake was decorated.
Here's a picture!
Here is the ingredient list, as found in the American Girl magazine. I added the things in parentheses though.

1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup baking cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chocolate chips (I recommend using a little more)
6 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup cold water
1/3 cup powered sugar(this is for if you're using the decorating idea found HERE)
To begin, preheat the oven to 350.
Put the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, salt, and choclate chips into a bowl. Stir until combined.

Add the oil, vinegar, vanilla, and water. Stir until the wet and dry ingredients are combined.
Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9 inch round pan.

Bake the cake for a half an hour, or until done.

Cool in the freezer for about 10 minutes, or as long as needed.

Remove from pan.
