New Year, Phrase of the Year, and Bullet Journal

Hi again! Today is the last day of 2019. Tomorrow begins the first page in a new book, the first day in a new year, and the first year of a new decade. That can be both frightening and exciting.
For years, I've seen pictures of bullet journals online, and thought they were really neat. I always sort of wanted to begin one, but was afraid they would be too much work and just give me another thing to stress about. Yesterday I finally started one.

So, I guess it's not a real bullet journal, with the dots and arrows and migrated tasks and things... It's really just a homemade planner. But I'm hoping it will really help me to keep track of what I'm doing and press towards my goals.
I'm using journal my sister got me for Christmas.

I thought it might be fun to share some pictures. Everyone's bullet journal looks so different, and it's a lot of fun choosing page ideas and doodling all over.

I'm hoping to fill in one highlight each day, so that later I can read through and remember the good things that happened.
This is to motivate me to get writing!

Here's just a weekly layout!
This page isn't part of January; it's actually in the back of the notebook. I'm hoping to find one spot outside, and take a picture of it each month. I think it will be interesting to watch as it changes.

Press On

I've been praying that God would show me a word or phrase to focus on this coming year. I used "Do hard things" for 2019, and it really helped me. I finally thought of "press on", but still wasn't sure  if that's what God wanted me to use, or if I just wanted to use it. Well, yesterday for devotions, I felt the urge to read Philippians 3-4. I did, and then thought nothing more of it.
Later, online, I came across the Bible verse, "I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:14
When I noticed that it was from Philippians, I realized why God was leading me to read from there. Now I know that "Press On" is my phrase for 2020.

Do you use a word/phrase of the year? If so, what are you using this year? Have you ever made a bullet journal? Are you ready to finish 2019 and start 2020?

  4. Happy New Year, Laura! Your bullet journal is so pretty. :D
A word (or phrase) to focus on during the year is the best! Mine for 2019 was "possible"; this year it's "endurance." :-)
I can't wait to see what God does in 2020!! <3
