The Greatest Book of All

If you were given a copy of the greatest book of all, a book that is alive and has changed millions of lives, what would you do with it? Read it, or store it away on a shelf? The Bible is the most powerful book in the world, and was written by the Creator of the Universe, through the hands of human beings, of the course of over a thousand years.
There are so many reasons why we should be reading it! One reason is that we have to know what it says. How else will we know what we are to do, or what to say when we are questioned? 1 Peter 3:15 says, "Be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you".
Also,we should never take the Bible for granted. After all, we don't know how long the Bible will be available. It has been banned in other countries before, how do we know we'll always have access to it here? If we ever had to lose our Bibles, we'll be glad for every verse we have stored in our hearts.
Perhaps you've tried to read it, but find it hard to understand. Well, one thing for sure is that the more you read it, the more you'll grow to love it. Also, since God wrote it, you'll need His help to understand it. Pray for His Holy Spirit to give you understanding.
As you read more and more of the Bible, you will learn more and more about God, and grow to love Him more. As you read passages over and over, they will stay in your mind, and will be a help to you, and a comfort in difficult times.
If you haven't been reading the greatest Book of all, you can start today! I know it's a lot, but don't get overwhelmed. It doesn't have to be read straight through, sometimes I just open up to a random page and start reading. If you want to read something straight through though, I would suggest starting with one of the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John). Just read a few chapters a day! You will never regret taking time out to read this Book.

  2. Good post! It is funny because I went to a Bible study/preaching last night and it was on reading your Bible and asking the Holy Spirit to lead you in what you read. Thanks for this post!
